The Wonderful World of Afghans

Before my friend Roberta introduced me to the wonderful world of afghans (Thanks Roberta!). I had only done baby blankets. First I started looking for afghans online. I found a couple that were really nice. I made this gray one right before Christmas. During Christmas I kept searching for new afghans to make. I found a snowflake afghan that I started crocheting. I discover that It will take me longer to finish than I thought (I"m still working on it and I will post pictures as soon as I can) . Then at the same time ( December) I found a book at the local library called "100 Afghans to knit and Crochet" by Jean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss. ( I got it for Christmas! Yeah!) I really like some of the afghans there. I was making a scarf for my sister in law for her birthday only to find out that she doesn't like scarfs. Instead she like one of the afghans in this book. The Rose afghan. Here are the pictures.

The name of this afghan is Victorian Roses. I made 63 roses already and I've been crocheting with the green yarn around it. I made one complete square to see how it will look. After I am done with all the squares it comes the fun part of putting them together. I don't know when I am going to finish. One thing is for sure. It is going to be a warm blanket :)

My mom's favorite afghan. This is called Sage Wheel. I only have to make 35 of this :) I haven't make a complete square yet. The color that is going to be in the outside is that beautiful peach color in the second picture.

While I was in the middle of crocheting the Blue afghan in the previous post, Emma asked me to crochet a "cat" afghan for her as a present for her birthday =) I told her yes, but I completely forgot until I was getting some yarn for scarfs and she reminded me about it. Since then all my other projects are on hold until I finish her cat blanket. This are picture of how it is coming along :)

I crocheted all the squares so far and I only need to finish crocheting the cats and doing the border. I don't think I will be done on time for her birthday but she is excited to see the work in progress ;-) She is still waiting to see what I will do with the cats face (humm ..That's going to be a challenge) I will post pictures as soon as I'm done.

Working on 3 projects

I have been working on 3 blankets lately. I have 2 squares blankets, one blue and one green. I'm also working on a blanket that is pink.

This one is almost done but for some reason I cannot make myself finish it. I have to crochet the border and it is done. I should work on it soon.

The pink one is also almost done but I'm looking for the right edge to put on it.

This is the square green one that I'm working on.
I'll post a picture when I'm done.

Andrea and Ryan's Wedding Present

I didn't know what to give Andrea and Ryan as a wedding present. I thought it for a while and I decided to give them a wall hanging. I had already crocheted a wall hanging some time ago. I took it out and looked for a frame. Here are pictures of the wall hanging before and after I framed it. The wall hanging is 36in long and 22in wide.

Crochet Blanket

Last weekend my sister in law found a cute (free) pattern for a baby blanket. This is nothing like I have made before. It is made of little squares put together. It looked easy to make so we got the yarn that I needed. On Monday, I started crocheting the little squares. This is the picture of one of the squares. :o)

On Saturday I finally finished all the squares and I stated putting them together. Today I stated to crochet the edge. Here are some pictures.

Pink and Blue Blanket

Finished Pink Blanket

Ok.. I have to admit. I finished the pink blanket long time ago. I have been lazy about posting. Since then I took on another project that I had on the side. A blue blanket :). My brother and sister in law are expecting their second child. They still don't know if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl. So I decided to knit a blue blanket and a pink one. Here are some pictures of the blankets.
The pink blanket is 55in long and 35 1/2 in wide. I'm thinking about selling it but I'm not sure how much to ask for.

Here is a picture of the Blue Blanket :) This is what I have so far. I'm making it BIG :) I'll try to post a picture of what I have each month :)
